A'Dakhliya

A'Dakhliya with its eight wilayats is regarded as a county for trade between the coast and the interior. The region has a multitude of forts and watch towers to guard the caravans and a 17th century fort is a witness to the glorious past. 

Nizwa being the trade capital is known as the "pearl of Islam". For the visitor, mountains, wadis, handicrafts and historical interests guarantee good sights and experiences. As an administrative centre, Dakhiiya has regional hospitals, schools and colleges. 

Nizwa is easily reached by a two-hour drive from Muscat. Comfortable hotels are located against a backdrop of mountains. 

Nizwa
The oasis city of Nizwa, the largest in the Interior province, was the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th centuries. Today it remains one of the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings and imposing fort built in the mid 17th century by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'ribi.
The town's immense palm oasis stretches for eight kilometres along the course of two wadis. It is famous for its bustling souq where tourists can bury exquisite copper and silver jewellery and other craft items.

Nizwa Fort
This is one of Oman's largest and oldest forts and is surrounded by gardens and rivers and a souq, with carved wooden doors opening to courtyards and shops.

Jabrin Fort
The finest and the most picturesque fort in Oman, it is one of the few designed as a residence. The wooden doors are elegantly carved and the lattice work windows are delicate and ornate. 

Misfah 
A village seemingly hewn out of rock, Misfah is surrounded by steep mountain slopes set amidst greenery and date plantations. 

Bahla 
A historic fort with 15 gates and 132 watchtowers. This village is one of the oldest in Oman and listed by UNESCO as a part of world heritage in recognition of the UNESCO to Omani civilisation. A 12 km, wall surrounds the town with seven main gates and the centre has an old souq where the traditional market "Habta" is held before Eid holidays.

Jabel Al Akhdar 
A magnificent stretch of mountains with fruits, vegetables and trees, it's easily accessible by road. Winter temperatures here fall below 0 deg.C 

Other Places Of Interest 
Samail is known for its fort and towers. Wilayats of Manah, lzki, Bidbid are famous for beautiful nature and greenery.
