Passenger care and maximum accessibility to the vehicle
were major considerations by ONTC. The buses have low floor entrances, effectively level with the platforms, which permit easy access for wheel-chairs and for people with impaired mobility. The wide entrances also help rapid access for passengers Inside, the Buses have special interior colour schemes, designed to meet the needs of the visually impaired. The neutral background colours make passengers feel at ease as well as providing excellent contrast to the brightly coloured grab rails, provided in abundance to assist standing passengers. There is excellent lighting and the general layout is arranged to provide passengers with the greatest amount of personal space. The buses have generous seat widths making them comfortable on longer journeys. You may never want to get off!
Low level floor areas account for some 40 per cent of the total floor space and are laid out to provide ample room for parents with pushchairs or people with shopping or luggage - people who often find travelling by bus cumbersome or impossible.
There is dedicated space for wheelchairs immediately next to the doors.
The varying floor levels provide seats in the raised "saloon" section that suit passengers
travelling longer distances. The seats in the lower sections, nearer the wide doors, are better for shorter journeys and for mobility-impaired passengers or mothers with push-chairs and small children.
