Musandam

Musandam is noted for its strategic position because it overlooks one of the busiest
shipping lanes in the world (Strait of Hormuz). It has four wilayats namely, Khasab (the capital), Mad'ha, Daba and Bukha.

The beauty of the majestic mountain scenery offers much to the visitor. Dhows sail the
glittering clear fjords where dolphins play. Snorkelling, diving the coral reefs, visiting ancient settlements with prehistoric tombs and rock carvings delight the tourists. Transportation by road and air is possible.

Bukha Fort
The fort is 250 years old and was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. Three small cannons at the entrance pointing seaward were fired to signal the sighting of the moon at the start of Eid.

Wadi Rawdah
Here are the remains of a large settlement with an Islamic graveyard and pre-islamic tombs. The headstones have interesting engravings including horsemen, palm trees and jewellery.

Rock Drawing - Tawi
The prehistoric drawings are of warriors, boats and animals. The area has uninhabited old houses with intricate lattice work on the windows.

Other Interesting Places
Musandam Sea, Khawr Sham, Qanahia, Maqlab and Seebi island are some of the other places worthy of a visit.
